Intro to Photographic Lighting (Online Class)

Calendar Mar 5, 2021 at 6 pm, runs for 4 weeks

Join professional commercial/fine art photographer Thom Williams of Troy, NY.

This 4 part session class will discuss different types of lighting, their use and application. We will cover on/off-camera flash, studio strobes, continuous lighting as well as reflectors and light modifiers. There will be several demo's as well as tips on the use and making the appropriate selection for your own photographic needs.

Students should have their own camera for this class.

(Please note: This class is being offered in conjunction with other Art Centers in the state. Participants will be from around New York State and not limited to local LPCA students.)

Coastal Sunset (Online Class)

$20

Thursday, March 11, 5:00-7:00pm EST

Join Cynthia in painting a coastal sunset! Cynthia will be painting with a palette knife and a bit of brushwork. You may use your preferred medium, the demo will be in oils. Class is geared for Advanced Beginners and up.

Suggested Materials

  • Oils, acrylics, or gouache- Titanium white, prussian blue or thalo blue, purple dioxizine, cobalt blue or ultramarine, alizarin permanent, cadmium red medium, cad orange, lemon yellow or cad yellow light

Note: If using acrylics, Cynthia suggests having some gesso on hand if your brand of white is not very opaque

  • Brushes: #5, 9, 12, or whatever you are used to
  • Palette Knives: RGM #46 and/or #50 or equivalent shape in other brands.

A Country View (Online Class)

$20

Join Cynthia Rosen as she paints a country view working on a tonal image with muted colors. This class is medium of choice and is geared towards advanced beginners and up.

  • Suggested paint colors for oils, acrylics, gouache:

Titanium white, prussian blue or thalo blue, purple dioxizine, cobalt blue or ultramarine, alizarin permanent, cadmium red medium, cad orange, lemon yellow or cad yellow light (Note: If using acrylics, Cynthia suggests having some gesso on hand if your brand of white is not very opaque)
